The last thing that you want to happen when you get into your RV right before a trip is discover that it’s not ready to go right away. Fortunately, you can keep this from happening by doing some simple things before storing it or letting it sit between trips. You should utilize these maintenance tips in between trips so that you can keep your RV in good condition.
Clean Both the Inside and Outside
You can keep your RV in good shape by making sure it’s clean after every single trip. You need to do things like take out the trash, sweep and mop the floors, wipe down the walls, and wash the outside. Even if it looks clean, it is a good idea to quickly clean it anyways to ensure that there isn’t anything that you missed.
Put It in RV Storage
Your RV has to deal with harsh weather conditions on a regular basis. You can extend the life of your RV and keep it in good condition by putting it in RV storage. This will keep it protected no matter how bad the weather is outside.
Fill Up the Gas Tank
Many RV owners don’t realize that they need to fill up the gas tank when the RV will be sitting for an extended period of time. By making sure it has a full tank, you will keep moisture from building up in it. Moisture can contaminate and corrode the gas tank and cause the RV to run poorly. Instead, make sure the tank is full. You can add fuel stabilizer to the tank as well to keep the gas from breaking down while in storage.
Fully Charge the Battery
You don’t want to be moments away from taking an RV trip only to discover that it won’t start. This is why you need to make sure that the battery is fully charged before you put it in storage. If it will be sitting for a long time, it is also a good idea to flip the disconnect switch in order to keep something from draining the battery while it’s sitting.
If you are taking a break from RV trips for a bit, you shouldn’t just park the RV in your yard and deal with maintenance later. An RV is a huge investment, and you want to make sure that it stays in good condition for as long as possible. By utilizing the maintenance tips mentioned above, you will help ensure that your RV remains in good condition for years to come even when it’s in between trips.
