Italy is an amazing place with dozens of amazing locations and destinations to visit. With such a big abundance, sometimes it’s kind of hard to decide where to go, especially if you’re on a restricted timeframe (summer holiday or weekend, for example) but, hopefully, with this guide, you will be able to decide and plan a proper itinerary. Therefore, without further ado, let’s see where you should go to Italy, at least once in your lifetime.
Rome
The Eternal City has always been a great destination for a romantic holiday, with its architectonical masterpieces, ranging from the Colosseum to the immense Pantheon, Rome is definitely one of those places in the world which everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. The best way to approach a small (or big) holiday there would be staying outside the city centre, in areas such as “Cornelia”, which is well connected to the city centre and, most importantly, isn’t expensive at all.
Milan
The jewel of the north is one of the best destinations for everyone who wants to both visit the country and at the same time loves a bit of nightlife. Famous for its net dualism, which combines classic architecture with modern buildings and facilities, Milan is also famous for iconic events like the “design week” and the “vogue fashion week” which attract thousands of people every year. The Duomo is also world-famous, and definitely a must-see.
Naples
It’s no secret, Italian food is second to none and if you’re looking to experience it as a whole, then Naples would be the best choice for you. Neapolitan food ranges from classics like Pizza (and all its varieties) to every possible fish-related dish, whether if lightly cooked or deep-fried. Naples, unfortunately, has quite a high crime rate, therefore, keep an eye on your valuable possessions whilst you’re there.
Gallipoli
Located near Bari, Gallipoli is the go-to place if you want to dive into crystal clear water, whilst enjoying an extremely bubbly nightlife. Easily reachable from Bari’s airport (about 30 mins from there) Gallipoli is extremely cheap and, therefore, the chosen destination for many students every summer. Keep that in mind when you’re planning your journey if you want to visit the place.
Venice
Another city on the list, Venice is one of the world’s most famous cities. With its canals and Gondole, Venice is the go-to place for a romantic escape, if you’re not extremely worried about your budget. Venice has a reputation for being extremely expensive (especially if you’re a tourist), but it is extremely worth visiting. The food is amazing as well, and if you keep your eyes peeled, you may be able to spot some restaurants who offer happy hour offers and restaurant deals.
The East Coast
If you’re not particularly asked about history and architecture, then you should probably keep the eastern Italian coast in mind. With places like Rimini and Riccione, their world-famous clubs and the lovely seaside, if you’re a party animal, these are your go-to destinations.
