Heavenly Couple Destinations in Hawaii

If a piece of Heaven existed on earth, one would most likely find it on the breathtaking islands of Hawaii. Hawaii is the birthplace of modern surfing, home to the world’s most active volcanoes, and the only royal palace in the United States rests on Hawaiian soil. Each island has something special to offer lovebirds, and many Hawaiian destinations are perfect for a couple’s getaway.

The Wonders of Kauai

Kauai is filled with beautiful flowers, gorgeous beaches, and green mountains. It is also the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands. Couples can enjoy the scenery together and make memories that will last a lifetime. A luxurious holiday in Kauai will include viewing stunning waterfalls such as the Opaekaa Falls and the Wailua Falls. Hanalei Bay, Poipu Beach, and Kalapaki Beach are must-see locations perfect for honeymooners. A trip to Kauai would not be complete without viewing “Hawaii’s Grand Canyon,” Waimea Canyon.

The Waimea Canyon is fourteen miles long. “Waimea” means reddish water; the walls of the canyon are red, and the water of the Waimea River is often a reddish color due to the red soil. Locals recommend an evening visit as the walls of the canyon seem to glow in the rays of the setting sun.

Kauai has a plethora of state parks and botanical gardens worthy of your time as well. The Kalalau Trail is perfect for a hiking date, and the cliffs of the Napali Coast are majestic. The Pihea Trail located in Kokee State Park offers breathtaking views of the Kalalau Valley. Not to be forgotten, the northernmost point of Kauai is the Daniel K. Inouye Kilauea Lighthouse. The lighthouse is a part of the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge which serves as a bird sanctuary and a perfect place to spot whales during the winter.

If you are interested in the natural flora and fauna of Hawaii, the you must add the McBryde Garden, Allerton Garden, and Limahuli Garden and Preserve to your itinerary. The Moreton Bay Fig Trees of Allerton Garden were the backdrop for the film Jurassic Park. McBryde Garden is home to 259 acres of gardens. If you have an interest for Hawaiian culture, the Limahuli Garden and Preserve offers information on early Hawaiian culture.

There are many other activities for couples on the island of Kauai. Adventuresome couples may try their hand at ziplining or surfing; if you love the water, but aren’t quite prepared to surf, you can still view the ocean while snorkeling. Scuba diving expeditions with your love are always exciting and memorable. Couples with a love of the outdoors may enjoy kayaking or horseback riding. No matter what activities you choose, there are plenty of things to do on the majestic island of Kauai.

Oahu: The Island for Water Lovers

Home to Wakiki Beach, Oahu boasts of beautiful warm weather year-round and has some of Hawaii’s most astonishing landscapes. Visitors to the island often partake in surfing lessons, snorkeling, sunset cruises, or sailing expeditions. Between December and May, you and your honey may spot a humpback whale of the island’s coast. In addition, couples can go parasailing, wind or kite surfing, wakeboarding or bodyboarding – these activities are especially great for couples that might not feel up to traditional surfing.

Water activities aren’t the only things couples may enjoy on Oahu. The Royal Hawaiian Center is a great place for history buffs, and the Honolulu Zoo is nearby as well. Pearl Harbor excursions allow couples to tour the historic sight as well. A lomilomi massage for couples is available at many of the hotels and resorts on Oahu. There is something for everyone in Wakiki!

Quiet Adventures on Molokai

Of all the Hawaiian destinations, Molokai is one of the most beautiful natural wonders. Molokai is only ten miles wide and a little less than forty miles long. A once-in-a-lifetime visit to Kalaupapa includes saddling up a mule (mules are able to traverse rough terrain much more so than horses) to view the natural beauty of the Halawa Valley. Large crowds do not flock to Molokai; it is perfect for a quiet getaway just for you and your beloved.

Get Closer to Heaven While on Hawaii Island

Do you and your love enjoy stargazing? If so, the island of Hawaii will be your favorite destination! Hilo is home to the Imiloa Astronomy Center. The planetarium, housed beneath three titanium cones resembling the volcanoes that created the islands, is the world’s premier astronomy site. The Imiloa Astronomy Center is home to an IMAX theater, and visitors may enjoy a movie in which it feels as if the viewers are flying through space.

Hawaii Island is home to the tallest sea mountain the world, Maunakea. The mountain is 13,796 feet above sea level. Because there is little pollution in this area of the world, eleven countries have installed telescopes with which new discoveries in astronomy are made. The stars are much clearer here due to the lack of pollution and the mountain’s great height. Visitors here can see things few others have.

Because of this, the island offers stargazing tours which may include transportation, food, guided tours detailing the history of the island, and a night viewing of the heavens.

Other stargazing opportunities exist at the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy. The Visitor’s Center offers public stargazing as well as tours of the summit.
